Merry Christmas Eve!!

Merry Christmas everyone! I'm so excited, which is pretty unusual, and for no other reason besides the fact that it's Christmas! My whole family is home, which is also unusual, which may be contributing to my excitement. It is so much more fun to play games with other people instead of being by myself.

Christmas is a time of giving and loving, so I hope all of you have something kind or charitable in mind for someone else this season.
Merry Christmas!

Enjoying Pie Day

My family, as well as my aunt, some cousins, and some friends made pies for Thanksgiving. It was a lot of fun, and it has been a tradition for all us girls to enjoy cooking together every year the day before Thanksgiving. I think Thanksgiving is an important holiday to spend with those important to us, and be thankful for them. We ended up making 21 pies total! There were: 7 chocolate pudding pies, 6 pumpkin pies, 2 french apple crust pies, 3 apple pies, 1 lemon meringue, and 2 cherry pies.

New Blog Design

It's so cool! I love it! I was tired of how it looked previously, so I changed it to something more dynamic. I may change it, as it is very different than how I am used to it. I rearranged and recolored just about everything, but the set-up isn't too different.

I hope it is more interesting!

Face Your Monster Contest

Hello... hello? Yes I'm still here! Blegh, I have no excuse for not writing, but please forgive me anyway. =) In summary, I have many difficult classes, the first term has just barely been completed (with some close calls concerning grades), and only now do I have the internal initiative to write a blog post.

In school, I have actually been enjoying myself thoroughly, and I have had more "Oh! I didn't know that!" moments than I can count. I love how three of my classes: Adult roles, Psychology, and Communications tie into each other so well! I am continually thinking: "Hey! I just learned about that yesterday in another class!"

At home, I am often on the computer, listening to Pandora (a music website - it's really good for background music and my art classes use it a lot) and other various computer-y website surfing. I have even found a new group I like: Imogen Heap. They have a soft-pop kind of feeling, and I really like it. Also, Troy has been over at our house quite a bit recently and has brought a large amount of vitality to our very quiet home.

As far as art is concerned, I am working hard on my stuff for my art class. However, I probably will not post any pictures of them on the internet, as I do not want them to get stolen, and then be told I was the one plagurizing . meanie art theives...
I shall try to put them on after the portfolio for my class has been turned in and graded. In the meantime though, come visit my account on Deviantart, selphyus! It is an awesome website, where artists from all over post their artwork. I have even found professional art pieces done for book covers. Admittedly, there is some "mature" stuff, but Deviantart does a good job of regulating itself, so it is blocked to most viewers. I entered a Halloween contest "face your monster," with the piece shown below.

Arrgg. Pimples. I can't stand them.

New Glasses!

Guess what! I now have glasses!
Although I was hesitant to get them at first, the people were really nice, and I was able to find a pair that I really like. I am near sighted, so they will help me to see words and other things that are far away. I needed them, mostly because I barely passed the sight test for my driver's license, and I have been having trouble seeing the front board in class. They really help, even if they can e distracting.

School Begins Anew

This last monday school has started up again. I am really looking forward to this year, but my friends all think I'm crazy, since six out of eight classes are either CE (college enrollment) or AP. Which means they are college level classes basically. Therefore, sometime during this year. I might die (figuratively) from work overload; however, my classes are all interesting and I think I will enjoy them. One of my AP classes is art, so I shall try to put my pieces on here as I complete them.

On a side note, for some reason August has been extremely hot, so I am also looking forward to when the weather cools down.

Summer Days

It's great to have a break from school, and Summer vacation has been very enjoyable. I like doing
practically nothing, and having lots of time for myself. The weather has been very warm (of course), however, it has also been a lot of rain lately as well, which is strange for this state. Even so, I like the rain, and in fact, my favorite type of weather is cloudy days with a cool wind breezing by.
=)
My body is kind of going crazy as well, sleep-wise, probably because I haven't had to get up at a certain time each morning. For example, just last night I suddenly felt tired at about 8 o'clock, so I went to bed. Unfortunately, my body thought it was a nap, and sure enough I wake up at 10, wide awake with energy to spare. *sigh* I wasn't able to get back to sleep until about 3. Well, I'm awake now, and I'm able to laugh at myself for this silly little thing that seems to happen every summer.
I hope everyone else is having a great Summer!

Request: Guys and Dolls Paintings

During the play, "Guys and Dolls" my part was as a street painter in New York. And being an painter in real life as well, I actually painted while on stage. Due to request, here are the paintings I did over the course of the play performances.

Amaryllis

Sunflower

Most likely I'll touch them up, because although I'm happy with how they turned out, neither is as good as I could have done them ( and I haven't finished the Sunflower one).

Also, I intend to put on some more of my artwork that I have done this year, since school is almost over.

General Conference

I really enjoyed General Conference this last weekend, the talks are always really interesting, and I always especially like the ones from the First Presidency. Unforunately, I missed the fourth session because I got pretty sick, and I spent most of Sunday sleeping. I hope to be able to watch it sometime soon online. =)

Spring Break

This week has been Spring Break, and I have been having a great time! Recently my family has been going on short car trips, visiting some monuments and interesting places of this wonderful state and taking pictures of our stay. Now that I look back on the week, everything kind of blurred into a single day, so it's a little hard to separate what happened which day.
From the top of my head, we visited a dinosaur museum, the Union Station (with lots of big trains), and saw some ancient rock carvings. Most of my enjoyment, though, I believe from spending time with my family. Amazingly, everyone has been pleasant for the outings, and it has made the trips more enjoyable.
On a side note, it is snowing today pretty heavily, even though it is April. =) Just one of the reasons I love this state: its crazy weather.

Craziness!

Yes, yes, as of late I have been living at school, being part of the play and doing last minute homework. However, now that the term has ended, I think I'll finally be able to get back to regular life. I hope to be able to relax, and calm my emotions which have been irritated and overwhelmed and restless for the past month or two. So here I be, writing and organizing on this homework-free Saturday, because I looked at my blog, and realized I hadn't written since Thanksgiving (oops ^~^ ). Anyway, I'll try to summarize some things.

First, the school play, "Guys and Dolls" has taken a lot of my time this past few months, even though as a small part (a New Yorker) I wasn't required to put in as much time as the leads, but it still seemed like I live my life at school.
